A High-Level Political Forum was held under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN). Sustainable Development Goals.
Within the framework of the forum, the third Voluntary National Report of Azerbaijan on the work done in the direction of the implementation of the SDGs was presented. The presentation was made on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan by Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Ali Ahmadov.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan, being one of the 10 countries in the world, presents the Third Voluntary National Report for the first time in the region and the CIS.
In the report prepared in accordance with the thematic topic determined by the UN, the policy and awareness work, the effects of the pandemic on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and measures to minimize these effects, the progress achieved on the SDGs, etc. found the opposite.
During the presentation of the report, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov informed about the work done in the field of implementation of SDGs in our country during the past period, the strengthening of the health care system, the restoration of economic activity, ensuring the dynamic growth of the non-oil sector, and the steps taken in the direction of the development of the national innovation system. It was noted that the collection and analysis of data on sustainable development will be continuously improved, issues such as the establishment of the SDG Financing Mechanism will be kept in mind.
The role of peace and stability in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Platform was emphasized at the event. Attention to the fact that the end of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in November 2020 will give a great impetus to the formation of security, stability, prosperity and mutually beneficial cooperation in the region, to the expansion of economic and trade relations, to benefiting from the opportunities of new international and regional transport and logistics corridors, and to the development of Azerbaijan and the region as a whole. delivered. At the same time, it was stated that in the next stage, the main direction of the development strategy of Azerbaijan will be the reconstruction of the liberated and destroyed regions of our country, and the return of the internally displaced persons to their places of residence.
